QuSoft and the University of Amsterdam are organizing The Quantum Quest, a four-week web class for high school students.
The quantum computer is a computer of the future. Instead of working with bits that have two states (
1), quantum computers work with quantum bits which can be in an infinite number of possible states. They can solve certain difficult problems much faster than we know using ordinary computers and also pave the way for new scientific explorations. Researchers at universities and in industry are working hard to build this fascinating device. But how does a quantum computer actually work and how can it be programmed?
Students will learn the basics of quantum computing. By the end of it, they will understand what quantum bits and quantum algorithms are and what they are good for.
