Former PhD candidate at UvA (IoP)
Email: o.onishchenko at uva.nl
Research line: Quantum simulation and few-qubit applications
Supervisor: Florian Schreck
He graduated summa cum laude with a B.S./A.B. dual degree from Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania, having majored in Biology and Chemistry, and minored in Mathematics. After that he went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in Applied Physics (Technische Natuurkunde) from TU Delft. He finished the Casimir pre-PhD track and did the Master’s thesis in the group of Prof. Ronald Hanson. He joined Prof. Dr. Schreck’s group in November of 2014 and obtained his PhD in 2018.
He is part of the team building a new versatile strontium quantum gas machine with a quantum gas microscope. One principal research direction is the generation of an artificial magnetic field for neutral atoms by using the narrow spectral lines of strontium
