Ido obtained his bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and physics at the University of Amsterdam. He obtained his master’s in mathematics at the University of Cambridge, and his master’s in theoretical physics at the University of Amsterdam (including one year of coursework at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich). Thereafter, Ido did his PhD in theoretical and numerical physics at the University of Amsterdam under supervision of Dr. P. Corboz, specializing in tensor networks. Specifically, Ido used two-dimensional tensor networks that go by the name of iPEPS to study ground states of strongly correlated spin lattice systems. Subsequently, Ido worked as an algorithmic trader for a year at Amsterdam-based startup MO Problems.
Since 15 October 2019 Ido is a postdoc at QuSoft, working for DisQover: a collaboration between QuSoft and ABN AMRO that explores the potential of quantum computers in finance.
Ido is interested in applications of noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) computers to finance and physics, as well as the interplay between quantum computing, tensor networks and machine learning in a broader sense.
