Research line: quantum protocols for non-cryptographic distributed computing tasks, in particular analysing such protocols for use in noisy, small-scale quantum networks.
Supervisor: Michael Walter (QuSoft/UvA) and Stephanie Wehner (QuTech/TU Delft)
Bas obtained his master’s degree in Applied Physics and Mathematics at the Delft University of Technology, focusing on the overlap between these two fields of science. Initially this was in the domain of computational physics, doing a bachelor project in finite element methods for nonlinear acoustics. During his master’s he became increasingly interested in quantum information theory and he did his master’s project in the (theory) group of Stephanie Wehner at the TU Delft.
The project was on the statistical analysis of randomized benchmarking type experiments for characterizing quantum gate sets.
In his free time Bas plays baseball and chess.
