QuSoft is happy to welcome new senior researcher Dr. Maris Ozols, who has joined us in August 2017. We wish him all the best for his future with QuSoft.
Dr. Ozols (born 1984 in Latvia) previously held a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship at the University of Cambridge, was a postdoctoral researcher at that university and before that a postdoc at the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center in the US.
His primary field of research is quantum information science and the most significant results of his work to date are new quantum algorithms, insights on entanglement and the role of entanglement in communication.
Besides doing research at QuSoft, Maris Ozols will also teach at the University of Amsterdam and supervise master and graduate students in the QuSoft subjects. At QuSoft he plans to explore connections between representation theory and quantum algorithms and information by considering computational problems with an extreme degree of symmetry. His goal is to find applications of these insights to quantum cryptography.
